Meet The Tennis Pro and Staff


Director of Tennis

Ben Coates 

Ben Coates was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and was recruited to the University of Utah for a tennis scholarship upon graduating high school in 1994. While at Utah Ben was team captain as a junior and senior maintaining a national collegiate ranking of #40 in singles and as high as #8 in doubles. Ben graduated Utah with a bachelors degree in mathematics as well as obtaining his high school teaching license. After leaving Utah Ben tried his hand at the Pro circuit travelling through Europe for a year and a half paying his way picking up odd coaching jobs. Before long he realized that the pros was a little too tough and that coaching was the perhaps the better and financially safer option.

Ben moved back to the United states landing in Las Vegas with wife Julie (a physical therapist), and began his coaching career at Red Rock Country Club. While there he completed a masters degree by night in mathematics education. Ben was at Red Rock for 3 years before moving to TPC summerlin for a further 3 years, then accepting the Director of Tennis position at Canyon Gate Country Club. Ben has served on the Nevada USTA board for 3 years, and was a member of the Men's USTA Open division team that won Nationals in 2004. He now devotes most of his time between Canyon Gate and his family including his two children Peyton, and Brady. 

Danielle Rose

Having lived in Las Vegas since her early childhood, Danielle Rose enjoys all aspects of the city, especially life away from The Strip. Working in the tennis pro shop allows her to get to know the Vegas locals, especially the ones on the tennis circuit. Since graduating from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2006, Danielle likes to spend her time immersed in the tennis world . Playing tennis, going to movies, and reading are just some of the things that occupy Danielle’s time outside of work. Danielle’s 3.0 team recently won the 2008 district championships in Las Vegas, and is headed up to Salt Lake City in Utah for sectionals.

Jason Harman

Jason Harman started playing tennis at Canyon Gate at Cimarron Memorial High School in Las Vegas. After completing high school he went to play tennis for college of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA. His first teaching job was at the sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head Island, SC, where he worked closely with the well known Stan Smith and Billy Stearns. After 4 years of gaining valuable experience, he made his way back to Las Vegas. There he worked for several clubs, including Desert Palms, Darling tennis center, Spanish Trails and Red Rock Country Club. Jason has been married for 5 years and just welcomed a baby girl.
